In terms of performance, it scores in the top 25% of all prescription hearing aids we've tested to date, and in terms of features and value, it ranks in the top 5%.

With a wide fitting range from mild to severe hearing loss, Rexton Reach combines the robust durability (IP68-rated) from Rexton's previous-generation Bi-Core hearing aids with cutting-edge technology that improves speech clarity in a variety of listening environments.

But how does it really perform? After extensive real-world testing and lab measurements, here’s my expert take on its strengths, weaknesses, and overall value proposition.

Lab Testing: Performance of the Rexton Reach Hearing Aid

In HearAdvisor’s independent testing, the Rexton Reach R-Li T demonstrated strong performance, earning an "A" SoundGrade and earning a HearAdvisor Expert Choice Award.

The "Initial Fit" represents the hearing aid’s performance using the manufacturer's default "first fit" setting (i.e., before any fine-tuning by a hearing care provider). In contrast, the "Tuned Fit" reflects the optimized settings an audiologist can achieve through the use of best practices, such as real-ear measurement (REM) and other fine-tuning techniques designed to enhance hearing aid performance. Typically, professionals place an emphasis on achieving the best possible results for speech in quiet and in noise.

Below, we'll look more closely at what these lab scores mean, and then I'll comment on my own experiences with various features of Rexton Reach.

Speech in Noise: Above Average Performance

One of the most critical factors for hearing aid users is performance in noisy environments. In the HearAdvisor lab, Rexton Reach R-Li T scored a full point (on a 5-point scale) above the average of 81 tested hearing aids, meaning it performs better than most in its class. I found voices to be crisp and well-articulated, with minimal distortion, even in soft-spoken conversations.

Feedback Handling and Own Voice Perception

Two factors that can lead to dissatisfaction with hearing aids are when the device starts whistling or squealing (feedback) and the perception that your own voice sounds hollow or like you're speaking out of a barrel (occlusion). Reach scored above average on feedback handling and well above average on occlusion results compared to other hearing aids tested.

Streaming Music: Slightly Below Average

The earwire design and overall ergonomics make it very comfortable, even for extended wear. In my testing, I found the fit to be secure yet lightweight, making it a great option for all-day use.

Battery Life: Industry-Leading

A standout feature of the Reach R-Li T is its battery life.

The Lithium-ion batteries in hearing aids degrade in power just like those in your cell phone, losing their efficiency each year. Thus, the longer battery life in Rexton Reach means you have some power to spare once the devices start hitting the 5+ year mark.

Connectivity and Bluetooth Streaming

The hearing aid insertion process is straightforward, and once properly set up by a hearing care provider, daily operation is hassle-free with minimal maintenance.

Pro Support: A Strong Offering with Some Caveats

One major advantage of buying from Costco is the included professional support. Users can expect thorough hearing tests, proper fitting, and follow-up care. Additionally, the Rexton App enhances the experience by allowing remote adjustments and feedback sharing with providers.

Putting aside the Rexton brand for a moment (i.e., this applies to all Costco hearing aids), we will caution that Costco hearing care providers are usually very busy. Although they're generally good at what they do, Costco providers often don't have a lot of time for in-depth, personalized service and troubleshooting. If you have a more severe or complex hearing loss or need help with tinnitus relief or other issues, you'll probably be better served by visiting an audiology clinic or independent practice that can devote the necessary time to address your individual needs.

Final Verdict: Rexton Reach is an Excellent Value

With a price of $1,499 per pair, the Rexton Reach R-Li T falls into the lowest-priced prescription category. Given its premium features, outstanding battery life, and strong Bluetooth connectivity, it delivers excellent value for the money. Many comparable hearing aids from major brands cost twice as much without offering significantly better performance.
