Tinnitus And Hearing Loss

FORT WAYNE, IN — A new immersive retreat designed for audiologists, tinnitus professionals, and hearing healthcare providers will take place June 13-17, 2026, in the peaceful mountain setting of Lake Junaluska, NC.

The Rooted & Regulated Retreat is a focused three-day immersion centered on nervous system regulation, integrative tinnitus care, clinician wellbeing, and practical tools providers can bring back to both their patients and themselves.

Created for professionals who want to deepen their approach to tinnitus management while also addressing burnout, stress, and emotional regulation, the retreat blends evidence-informed mind/body practices with experiential learning in a restorative environment.

“Many of us entered hearing healthcare to help people heal,” said retreat organizer and audiologist Dr. Judy Huch. “But so many clinicians are running on empty themselves. This retreat is about learning tools that support both the patient and the provider.”

The inspiration for the retreat emerged from a deeply personal journey that began during a trip to Nepal in 2022. Struggling with depression and dissatisfaction with prescription-based treatment approaches, Dr. Huch found new perspective through exposure to Nepalese culture, mindfulness practices, and Buddhist philosophy.

That exploration later led to a tinnitus collaboration in 2024 with integrative tinnitus specialist Sara Downs, whose work introduced nervous system regulation and mind/body medicine approaches to tinnitus care. After completing training through The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Dr. Huch pursued additional certification to bring these concepts into both clinical care and professional education.

“What I thought would simply help me support others ended up transforming my own life,” Dr. Huch shared. “I discovered practical tools for grounding, regulation, emotional processing, and resilience that I immediately realized could benefit clinicians and tinnitus patients alike.”

The retreat experience will include:

  • Nervous system regulation techniques
  • Mind/body medicine practices
  • Stress reduction and grounding exercises
  • Integrative approaches to tinnitus support
  • Reflective and restorative experiences
  • Community connection with like-minded professionals
  • Dedicated personal renewal time for attendees

The program is intentionally limited in size to encourage meaningful interaction and individualized experiences.

The retreat is designed for:

  • Audiologists
  • Tinnitus specialists
  • Hearing healthcare professionals
  • Integrative health practitioners
  • Clinicians seeking personal restoration and professional growth

Organizers emphasize that attendees do not need prior experience in mindfulness, meditation, or integrative care to participate.

“Once the healer is healed, we are able to better help others collect the tools to heal themselves,” Dr. Huch said.

Space for the Rooted & Regulated Retreat is limited. For additional information or registration details, contact Baylee Smith at baylee@entheoshearing.com
