ReSound Vivia hearing aids

ReSound Vivia is the company's latest flagship product family. While Vivia uses ReSound's latest 360 chip for sound processing and Bluetooth streaming— a chip also found in the company's Nexia and Savi hearing aids—it is also powered by a separate chip that adds artificial intelligence (AI) to its speech in noise processing. Although Phonak's Infinio Sphere hearing aid also uses this type of dual-chip architecture, ReSound says it has engineered Vivio to be smaller and have a longer battery life, while providing as much or even more speech-in-noise capabilities.

ReSound says Vivia was built to "have it all.” Its microRIE uses Bluetooth LE and features Auracast technology. The new microRIE (receiver-in-ear) model is essentially the same small size as Nexia microRIE and provides 30 hours of use per charge (20 hours with Intelligent Focus and streaming combined) for all-day power. In a pinch, 10 minutes of quick charging gives you about 2.5 hours of wearing time.

The other two Vivia RIE models come with different battery options (sizes 312 and 13). These also employ Bluetooth LE with Auracast, and the size 13 model offers a telecoil for listening with induction loop technology. There is also a CROS / BiCROS version of the MicroRIE for individuals with unilateral (one-sided) hearing loss.

The AI chip in ReSound Vivia uses a Deep Neural Network (DNN) trained on 13.5 million spoken sentences in various languages and with varied vocal effort across 3.9 million tuned sound parameters. It combines AI processing with GN’s 360-degree natural hearing approach for better hearing in both noise and quiet. The result: GN's internal research shows that 64% of Vivia users experience better speech understanding in noise compared to other AI-powered hearing aids.

Further, 83% prefer Vivia's new Intelligent Focus—which prioritizes sounds based on the direction you're looking—over the previous-generation noise-reduction products. (As this is a brand new hearing aid introduced in February 2025, the HearAdvisor lab is in the process of obtaining and testing Vivia, and we hope to have performance results available soon.)

Four New ReSound Vivia Hearing Aids: First Look and EVERYTHING You Need to Know!
HearingTracker Audiologist Matthew Allsop provides an overview of ReSound Vivia hearing aids.

You control Vivia using onboard buttons, tap controls (microRIE only), or the ReSound Smart 3D app. Beyond basic remote functions for program and volume adjustments, the Smart 3D app lets you change the directional response of the hearing aid (e.g., FrontFocus), adjust tones (bass and treble), monitor battery life, and more. A "Find My Hearing Aids" feature helps you locate your hearing aids if they're misplaced, and there are tinnitus management options with customizable tones. The app also allows users to request remote care from their hearing provider for convenient adjustments and firmware updates.

The RIEs in Vivia (and Nexia) offer ReSound's unique Microphone & Receiver-in-Ear (M&RIE) option which adds a third microphone in the ear to the traditional, external, two-mic hearing aid system for better localization, improved spatial hearing, enhanced sound quality, and reduced wind noise. Although M&RIE is useful, it has been found in the field to be best for those with specific hearing losses (for details, consult with your hearing provider).

Beyond this, Vivia offers the same advanced LE Audio and Auracast capabilities as the previous-generation Nexia hearing aids. Continue reading for details.

Although the latest Vivia hearing aids are currently available only in Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) styles, ReSound's previous flagship hearing aid, Nexia, is offered in all styles, including (l to r): Completely-in-Canal (CIC), In-the-Canal (ITC), mini RIE, standard RIE, and Behind-the-Ear (BTE) hearing aid models.

ReSound Enzo IA hearing aids

The ReSound Enzo IA is the world's smallest rechargeable superpower hearing aid designed for people with severe to profound hearing loss. It represents a significant advancement in a category that has seen minimal innovation compared to devices for milder hearing loss. At the same time, it's also the first superpower hearing aid with Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and fully enabled Auracast, allowing stable streaming to two devices simultaneously and future access to public Auracast broadcasts in venues like airports and theaters. In the meantime, it still contains a Telecoil, providing access to hearing loops.

The Enzo IA addresses the primary challenge for severe hearing loss users: speech understanding in noisy environments. It features GN's new 360 chip running Intelligence Augmented (IA) technology, which continuously analyzes and classifies your environment, then adjusts gain, noise reduction, and directionality in real-time.

According to ReSound, the Enzo IA's Clear Focus is the narrowest beamformer available, meaning the aids tightly focus on voices while cutting out surrounding noise. ReSound's own research found that 93% of superpower users preferred it over competitors, with a 2.7 dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio compared to previous models.

The Enzo IA also boasts exceptional feedback management, providing maximum stable gain without squealing during everyday activities like hugging or wearing hats. Battery life is impressive at 28 hours on a single 3-hour charge without streaming, or 20 hours with significant Bluetooth use. The Enzo IA only comes as a rechargeable model.

ReSound Nexia hearing aids

ReSound Nexia offers a full range of Receiver-in-Ear (RIE), Behind-the-Ear (BTE), and in-ear custom hearing aids. Nexia shares the 360 chipset found in Vivia, but it does not include the AI and DNN processing chip capabilities.

As a long-time industry leader in wireless technology—including being the first to incorporate wireless 2.4 GHz streaming in hearing aids—ReSound wanted to be the first to manufacture a hearing aid that uses the new Bluetooth LE standard with Auracast broadcast audio technology fully employed. It accomplished this, and more, with Nexia—thus “future-proofing” this product family.

That means Nexia (as well as Vivia and Savi) can receive Auracast broadcasts, which are expected to be widely used in theaters, houses of worship, airports, arenas, bars, and restaurants in the next several years. This capability has earned Vivia and Nexia a place among our top recommendations for best Bluetooth hearing aids. However, as HearingTracker's Matthew Allsop points out in the video below, very few venues have implemented Auracast yet, so you may not get to experience the full benefits of this technology for a while.

All Vivia, Nexia, and Savi models (except the very smallest custom devices) feature Bluetooth connectivity for both Apple iOS and Android ASHA, with “hands-free” calling for iPhones, meaning you can conduct phone calls while your smartphone is in your pocket or purse, with the hearing aids both receiving and transmitting the signals to/from the phone. Some newer Android phones (at this writing, the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the S24 with Android 15, and Pixel 9 with the Android 16 beta update) also feature hands-free calling, with more to come.

Resound Launches 3 NEW Nexia Hearing Aids
HearingTracker Audiologist Matthew Allsop provides an overview of the new ReSound Nexia hearing aids, while reminding viewers that—as great as Auracast broadcast technology is expected to be—it is not in widespread use at the moment.

If you don't have a phone that supports hands-free use, the Phone Clip+ accessory can provide the same utility. Or without it, you can simply speak into the phone while listening to the person’s voice, which is streamed wirelessly to both your hearing aids. (Please refer to ReSound's compatibility page for details on your specific phones and tablets.)

Vivia, Nexia, and Savi models include ReSound's signature 360 All-Around Directionality and the ReSound Smart 3D App—one of the highest-rated apps in the hearing industry.

Unique to ReSound, the Check My Fit app function helps ensure you’re wearing the devices correctly, as recently detailed in a video by HearingTracker’s Matthew Allsop. Check My Fit may be particularly useful for first-time wearers and those who opt for the smaller in-ear custom products.

The Nexia Micro RIE (Receiver-in-Canal) hearing aid is 25% smaller than ReSound's standard RIE.
The Nexia Micro RIE (Receiver-in-Canal) hearing aid is 25% smaller than ReSound's standard RIE.

Nexia is now available in all hearing aid styles. The most popular, the MicroRIE, is 25% smaller than the standard RIE and features an accelerometer for tap-based, hands-free audio streaming with iPhones and iPads. It is user-friendly and designed specifically to address speech in noise.

For those with hearing losses that may require more power, Nexia offers two rechargeable BTEs: a power aid with slim-tube options and an ultra-power aid for severe to profound hearing losses.

And, for people who want a discreet in-ear hearing solution, the Nexia chip is now available in the company's In-the-Ear (ITE), In-the-Canal (ITC), and Completely-in-Canal (CIC) hearing solutions. These aids are crafted by your hearing provider for the unique shape of your ear canal and have a stylish look that resembles a high-tech hearable with a single, prominent, multifunction button. Except for the CIC, all Nexia custom aids feature Bluetooth audio streaming, can be controlled by the ReSound 3D app, and are rechargeable (the CIC uses a size 10A disposable battery and is non-wireless).

Nexia is available in three technology tiers (levels 9, 7, and 5), with each higher tier offering more features for noise reduction and improved speech understanding.

ReSound Savi hearing aids

Launched in February 2025 at the same time as Vivia, ReSound Savi is the company's latest "essential" product line for cost-conscious consumers. Savi uses the same 360 chipset as Vivia and Nexia but does not offer AI or many of the advanced processing features found in those product families. It's currently available in three Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) models: a rechargeable microRIE and two that use disposable batteries (size 312 and 13), as well as custom wireless ITC and non-wireless CIC styles that use replaceable batteries (size 312 and 10). Notably, the ITC is wireless and is said to be the first essential-level ITC to offer Auracast broadcasting.

ADVERTISEMENTad for ReSoundADVERTISEMENTad for ReSound

We expect Savi to expand to offer Behind-the-Ear (BTE) styles, eventually replacing those offered in the ReSound Key product line (detailed below).

Savi has the same Bluetooth LE and Auracast capabilities as its more expensive counterparts, Vivia and Nexia. This means it provides you with good-quality streamed audio and hands-free calling on iPhones, iPads, and compatible Android mobile devices. The Savi ITC is the first wireless ITC hearing aid in ReSound's essentials category to support Auracast broadcast audio. However, hands-free calling is not available for the new ITC and CIC styles.

In general, HearingTracker is very bullish on "basic" technology hearing aids from the major manufacturers. If fitted by a skilled hearing provider who uses best practices, these aids should serve you very well. We'll note that Savi is new, and like Vivia, we have not yet had an opportunity to test its performance in the HearAdvisor lab; however, considering its features and tech offerings—many of which are shared with Vivia—it appears to be a very good option in the "essential" category of hearing aids.

ReSound ENZO Q power hearing aids

ReSound ENZO Q hearing aids are based on the same technology platform as the LiNX Quattro product line that was introduced in 2018. The ENZO line is specifically made for consumers with severe-to-profound hearing loss. Although older in technology, it still provides sophisticated sound processing for people who need powerful sound amplification. ENZO utilizes Binaural Directionality III to improve spatial sense by helping users locate sound. It also provides very high levels of amplification without feedback.

ADVERTISEMENTad for ReSound

ReSound Key hearing aids

For those looking for a less-expensive alternative, Key is a good "essential category" choice. Available for almost all hearing losses, this hearing aid performs as a solid, albeit slightly older-technology, device in Behind-the-Ear (BTE) and custom designs. Although it does lack many of the advanced binaural features and some of the directional microphone technology found in the above products, you'll get good sound quality and all the “key essentials” in Key.

ADVERTISEMENTad for ReSoundADVERTISEMENTad for ReSound

The one thing you'll want to note with Key, however, is that only the two highest technology levels (levels 3 and 4) provide for Bluetooth audio streaming for phone calls, music, podcasts, etc. Audio streaming is not available in the more basic tech levels of Key (levels 1 and 2).

ReSound tinnitus solutions

ReSound hearing aids come with a built-in Tinnitus Sound Generator (TSG) to mask annoying ringing, humming, and buzzing tinnitus sounds in your head and ears. Its NatureSounds offers soothing water-inspired sounds like “ocean”, “beach surf” and “calming waves.” It also lets you select sounds or music from Apple devices. And a ReSound Relief smartphone app offers dynamic sounds, tinnitus management guidance, as well as a variety of exercises. See HearingTracker's article on the best hearing aids for tinnitus, where we've named ReSound hearing aids as being among the top choices in this category.

More about ReSound hearing aid technologies

ReSound started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1986 and pioneered fast multichannel sound processing and analog programmable hearing aids with technology purchased from AT&T Bell Labs. It was one of the first to develop thin-tube Behind-the-Ear (BTE) hearing aids and the first to offer a commercially successful open-fit hearing aid, ReSoundAIR, in 2003. This paved the way for a revolution that led to much more natural sound in hearing aids, including the popular Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) devices (ReSound refers to them as Receiver-in-Ear or “RIE” hearing aids, but RICs and RIEs are the same).

ADVERTISEMENTad for ReSound

The company is also an acknowledged innovator in wireless streaming technology. ReSound was the first to pioneer 2.4 GHz wireless streaming solutions in hearing aids. Among other things, ReSound wireless accessories eliminated cumbersome "neck loops" that had been required to transmit audio signals to hearing aids. ReSound was also first to deliver Made-for-iPhone hearing aids. Their wireless solutions hastened the transformation of hearing aids from devices used mainly for amplification to consumer electronic products used for phone calls, music streaming, and other forms of connectivity, communication, and entertainment.

The Nexia hearing aid, released in 2023, was the world's first hearing aid to deliver Auracast broadcast technology. As with its previous OMNIA family, these new hearing aids are meant to replicate natural 360° sound environments while also offering beamforming directionality, improving speech understanding in background noise, and exceptional sound quality for conversations.

ReSound legacy hearing aid models

ReSound continues to support earlier hearing-aid models based on previous generations of its sound-processing technology. Because these hearing aids still provide high-performance sound processing and functionality, some hearing providers may still sell them at lower price points than the latest models.

Legacy models include OMNIA (currently being phased out), Custom by ReSound (replaced by Nexia customs), ReSound One, LiNX 3D, LiNX 2, LiNX, Vea, Enya, Verso, Alera, Lex, Vea, Magna, Live, Dot2, Ziga, Essence, Pulse, x-plore, Be, and Match hearing aids.

ReSound hearing aid apps and accessories

ReSound hearing aid wireless accessories transmit audio from your phone and TV directly to your hearing aids. And its smartphone apps let you control your hearing aid programs and Bluetooth settings. Following are accessories for the most recent popular ReSound hearing aid models. Make sure to check with your provider to see which accessories will work with your hearing aid model.
